Basic principles
Marble and natural stone are durable but not invulnerable. The number-one enemy of polished marble is acidity: lemon juice, vinegar, some « multi-purpose » cleaners or aggressive limescale removers. They etch the surface and leave dull marks that are hard to fix.
The golden rule: soft cloth, lukewarm water, pH-neutral soap. Wipe spills quickly, especially on worktops and bathroom floors.
Marble care
Indoors, dust regularly so sand grains do not scratch the polish. Use felt pads under heavy décor. For high-traffic marble floors, professional care (crystallisation or repolishing) may be needed every few years depending on use.
In bathrooms, dry standing water and ventilate to limit limescale. Factory or post-install hydro-oleophobic treatment reduces stain penetration.
- Avoid: vinegar, acid, bleach on polished marble
- Recommended: pH-neutral cleaner, microfibre
- Water marks: dry cloth + mild limescale product
Taza stone care
Outdoors, Taza stone ages naturally. A light veil or patina may appear without compromising strength. Breathable hydrophobic treatment, reapplied per manufacturer guidance (often every 3 to 5 years), protects against moisture stains and urban dirt.
Clean with a soft brush and clear water. Avoid pressure washers too close to joints that could loosen slabs. On terraces, sweep regularly to remove abrasive sand.
Common stains and what to do
Wine or coffee on marble: absorb immediately, clean with neutral soap. If the stain has penetrated, contact a professional for local honing. On porous outdoor stone, mild detergent and thorough rinsing are often enough.
